We’re not here to talk in circles or play politics-as-usual. We’ve built The Hospitality Party to make change happen — starting in Kirklees, and growing from there.

Here’s what we’ll do, in plain English.

1. Elect Independent-Minded Local Councillors

We’ll stand candidates who actually live and work in the communities they represent — not career politicians. People who understand the challenges of running a business, hosting events, creating culture, and building community.

We’ll campaign to take seats on Kirklees Council and prove what happens when you put normal people — not party machines — in charge of public decisions.

2. Fund Local. Not Corporate.

Kirklees Council has handed millions to corporate developers and national chains while ignoring the businesses, venues and organisations keeping the town alive.

We’ll push for funding to go:

  • To independent traders and venues

  • To community-led events

  • To young people trying to get into food, music or the creative industries

We’ll publish a local-first funding policy — and demand transparency on every pound spent.

3. Make It Easier to Do Things

Running a small event, opening a new café, hosting a gig, using a park — it shouldn’t be a red tape nightmare. We’ll simplify access to public spaces and push the council to cut the bureaucracy that blocks good people from doing good things.

We’ll create:

  • A standardised “One Pack” for using public space

  • A public directory of available venues and parks

  • A simplified licensing framework for grassroots organisers

We want councils that make it easier to say yes — not easier to say no.

4. Rebuild Kirklees From the Ground Up

Empty shops. Unused buildings. Pointless developments. Kirklees deserves better. We’ll campaign to:

  • Bring empty spaces back into use for community and culture

  • Stop public assets being handed to corporations without accountability

  • Prioritise people, not parking

We believe regeneration starts with independence, culture and community — not glass, steel, and chain restaurants.

5. Be Transparent — Always

We’re not here to “get in” and disappear. Everything we do will be published, explained, and open to question. We’ll:

  • Host open public forums (in venues and pubs, not boardrooms)

  • Share funding breakdowns

  • Let the public help shape policy

6. Prove It Works Here — Then Grow

We’re starting in Kirklees because the need is urgent — and the potential is real. But we believe this approach can work across the UK.

If we can show that local politics can be better, fairer, simpler, and more people-powered — then why stop here?

This is just the beginning.

We’re not waiting for someone else to fix it.
We’re building the thing ourselves — with your help.

Want to help fund the work?
Want to help run it?
Want to see something different?
